2020 Anthology

The Uncertain Kingdom began at the end of 2018, with the idea for a short film anthology that would offer filmmakers an opportunity to express their feelings about the end of a tumultuous decade and their hopes for the next one.

In 2019, The Uncertain Kingdom commissioned twenty short films from emerging and established directors, bringing together artists working across film, TV, theatre, animation, dance and radio.

Climate change, migration, disability, homelessness and sexuality are just some of the subjects explored in the ground-breaking anthology that offers a unique portrait of the nation.

The films were released as an anthology in summer 2020 to critical acclaim. Explore the anthology here.

The Uncertain Kingdom also commissioned a twenty-first film about the pandemic. The resulting film, The Forgotten C, was released online in September 2021. It was watched 7000 times during the first week of release and was nominated for the BIFA for Best British Short.
