Leah Vlemmiks, Writer/Director

Leah is a self-taught British-Canadian filmmaker, screenwriter, and editor. Her films have screened at SXSW, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Raindance, HBO Urbanworld, Nuit Blanche and many more. Her music video collaboration with artist Witch Prophet won Best Music Video at the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Film Festival, was nominated for Best International R&B/Soul Video at the UKMVAs and was voted to the Prism Prize Top Ten by the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Leah is slated to direct the series, Get Hooked (OUTtv/Accessible Media Inc.) in fall 2024. Leah's feature film film, Goswina, is currently in development in the UK with support from Canada Council for the Arts.

Heidi Lynch, Producer

Heidi is an award-winning producer, writer and actor who is most passionate about film/tv when it is paired with advocacy - most importantly for the queer community, the disabled community and mothers working in film. You can see Heidi's work as showrunner/producer in both seasons of Avocado Toast the series on Amazon Prime (OUTtv). Heidi was most recently selected for the Toronto International Film Festival Series Accelerator Talent Lab. Heidi is currently in pre-production for a series called Get Hooked that explores the mental health benefits of fishing and nature for underrepresented communities (OUTtv/Accessible Media Inc.)  Heidi will be attending and presenting at Series Mania in Lille, France 2024 as a "Producer to Watch".  New Kid Film Ltd. was started by Swiss/Canadian producer Heidi Lynch and Canadian/U.K. director Leah Vlemmiks because no matter how much time you spend in a country you weren't born in, it is easy to still feel like the new kid.
